Secession and the Power of the Sword 2015

by Russell D. Longcore, Owner and Editor of DumpDC, president of Abigail Morgan Austin Publishing Company

(Editor’s Note: I wrote this article in February 2010 for the first time. It was WAY ahead of its time then. But we are now five years down the road toward the collapse of the Washington power structure and rogue government. So this updated article is a bit of new perspective along with some of the original article.)

Few people, even patriots…truly understand how close America is to an economic collapse. And when it comes…not IF it comes…every person will be affected in some way. A tiny minority will be prepared, and everyone else will suffer…many will die and die ugly.

I see my friends and fellow travelers in the Liberty movements and the Secession movements vigorously promoting State Secession. But there seems to be an elephant in the room at every gathering…an elephant that few are willing to acknowledge or talk about.

The elephant in the room is military preparedness for a state on the brink of secession, or a newly seceded state/nation. I have heard some of the leaders in state nationalist movements shy away from talking about militias and military preparedness. I have heard speeches where those leaders distance themselves from any notion that the secessionists might have to take up arms and fight. And I certainly understand the sense of self-preservation that motivates those leaders. If the DC regime labels you a “domestic terrorist” or an “enemy of the state,” your life can be drastically altered or ended. And when the label “terrorist” has no real meaning, and can mean anything that DC wants it to mean, it’s best to stay off their drone radar screens.

But at some point, the militia MUST be discussed. And at some point, the militia MUST be created and military preparedness MUST be addressed.

My friends at the website Western Rifle Shooters Association talk about preparedness all the time. But is their talk getting down to the real nitty gritty? I believe it is. I believe that the leaders there are quietly preparing the militia leaders that will be needed when the shyt hits the fan.

There is an absolute requirement of a seceding state to wield the Power of the Sword.

The Power of the Sword I speak of here is the State Militia. A seceding state MUST FIRST establish its own military, and the best form of a military for a new nation is a citizen militia.¹

Over the past 20-30 years, the only stories you might have seen in the media about militias were slanted toward gun-toting, camo-wearing crazies who preach white power, or overthrow of Washington, or some other nutty philosophy. But you will be hard pressed to find a serious treatment of the function of a state militia anywhere in the media. So, the very word “militia” has been tainted and associated with kooks. Believe me, that was their very intent.

Anyone who believes in big government cannot abide the idea that each state should have a “well-regulated militia.” The two entities…big government and state sovereignty exhibited through military resistance…are forever at enmity with each other. Brute force wins every time, and big government is the personification of brute force.

The militia of today will not look like the standing armies of the nations of the world. They will be guerrilla fighters. Look at what the Afghans did to the American armies. Look at what the non-state ISIS fighters are doing all over the Arab world. Look at what the Chechens have done to Russia over the past 30 years. Look at what the Irish Republican Army did to the British occupiers in Ireland. 4th Generation Warfare has made standing armies anachronistic. Tanks won’t win a secession firefight, but IEDs probably will.

The Second Amendment of the US Constitution was supposed to guarantee the existence of state militias. Instead, Washington has inundated Americans with the very laws and regulations that violated the Amendment and purposely infringe upon the right to keep and bear arms. But Washington has always been much less concerned with citizens’ rights to carry concealed weapons than they are committed to stripping the states of their militias. It’s simply that they pulled a Harry Houdini sleight-of-hand ploy. They diverted the attention of the masses over weapons bans, assault rifle restrictions and concealed carry laws…and all the while, militias disappeared in all 50 states.

And as I said, the secessionists are deathly afraid of the topic of militias as armed resistance. Serious, substantive discussion about the re-formation and revitalization of the state militia is off-limits in most circles of the secessionist movement. I have likened this fear to posting a “No Guns In Our House” sign in your front lawn. You may be committed to non-violence, but the criminals aren’t.

It is not reasonable to believe that Washington will simply benignly accept the secession of ANY state. It is not reasonable to believe that DC’s lawyers and bureaucrats will negotiate with ANY seceding state in good faith to accomplish a peaceful separation. It is not reasonable to believe that Federal courts will uphold any legal effort at secession. It is whistling past the graveyard.

By the secessionists assuming the kneeling, cowering position of non-resistance, DC already knows that talk about state secession is an example of “big hat, no cattle.” This is also the main reason that Washington is not threatened by the “Tea Party” rallies. When Washington calls the bluff of the secessionists and says “put up or shut up,” all you will hear is crickets chirping from the state secession movements.

That is, secession movements in states without well-regulated militias.

The Founders of the United States, those men who signed the Declaration of Independence, knew that by affixing their signatures to that sacred document, they had signed their own death warrants. They knew that they would be hung for treason if captured. In this present-day environment in which Washington sees a terrorist lurking in every shadow, and each terrorist perceived as a threat to Washington’s very existence, secessionist leaders in every state will have a bulls-eye on their chests.

I’ve said time and time again that the timing of secession is everything. I’ve said that the best time for secession is after the coming economic meltdown. True enough. But no matter what happens with the dollar, no matter how bad the economy gets, Washington will still have a core of Army, Navy, Air Force and Marine personnel that will obey orders. They will still own tanks and helicopter gunships and jet fighters and warships. There will be a core of law enforcement personnel in every state that are willing to enforce Federal law with deadly force.

Washington’s going to take secession efforts very personally. Remember…the Washington government is staffed with CRIMINALS that have been shaking down the states and We The People for 150 years. Even in the face of a worthless Dollar, they will not go away quietly. The wildest of the wild cards is the Dollar. If DC’s currency collapses, all bets about Washington’s ability to crush secession are off. They may be unable to fend off a challenge to their ownership of the states. But none of us knows what will happen on that day.

In the past, I have focused your attention on the secession of 1989, when the Soviet Union dissolved and the 15 republics of the USSR became sovereign nations once again. I have held hope that such a relatively non-violent separation could occur here in the United States. But that faint hope is fast ebbing in me. I fear that the criminal government class in Washington is staffed with much more desperate criminals than the ones that held together the Soviet Union.

I do not believe that there is a chance in Hell that secession from the United States of America can succeed without any seceding state FIRST revitalizing its citizen militia. Brute force only respects the resistance of an equal or superior brute force. Ladies and gentlemen, there will be blood spilled for liberty again.

If you disagree with me, I invite you to write with your arguments.

Then the future will show us which of us is right.

Secession is the Hope for Mankind. Who will be first…and wisest?

Herding Cats: Texas Independence Faces Challenges From Within

February 24, 2015

by Russell D. Longcore

Herding Cats

Herding Cats

Have you ever thought about herding cats?

Cats are known for their aloof independence. Sure, your cat will curl up in your lap and purr while you pet him, but how often do you see cats sit…or speak…or fetch on demand? Nobody trains guard CATS. There are no Feline Units in your local police department. So the visual image above of cowboys herding cats is meant to be absurd, showing that corralling a bunch of snooty independent cats is a tough job.

“Herding Cats” also accurately describes efforts to get independence-minded patriots to work together. Let me tell you a story that illustrates this phrase well.

Back in the decade of the 2000s, I shifted from being an activist, conservative, Marine Corps-loving, pro-war, pro-gun, rock-ribbed Republican to being a Libertarian. I had read book after book about liberty, and it became quite clear in the pages of Thomas Paine, John Locke, Frederick Hayek, Lysander Spooner, Frederic Bastiat, Henry Hazlitt, Mises, Rothbard, Nock, etc. … that the worldview of the Republicans bore no resemblance to the worldview of lovers of liberty. And the Libertarian Party embraced all those authors, as well as writers like Dr. Mary Ruwart and her book “Healing Our World.” I thought the Libertarians had the perfect political platform. So I joined the local chapter and the national Libertarian Party, and set about finding ways to be an activist Libertarian.

What I discovered about Libertarians is that they are so dedicated to individualism that organizing them into a coherent group, pointed in one direction, was nearly impossible. And so my dream of a political party that espoused precepts of individual liberty and property rights was dashed on the rocks of reality.

So, how do we take that story and apply it to the Independence Movement in the State of Texas?

Texas has the most well-organized independence movements of all the US states. But recently, I have been hearing rumblings from the Lone Star State that all is not brotherhood and sisterhood in the Independence movement.

The two most influential Independence groups in Texas are the Texas Nationalist Movement (TNM) and Freedom Texas. Then there is the Republic of Texas group, who has had recent scrapes with the Texas government and Texas courts. These groups are dedicated to returning the US state of Texas to its status as a sovereign nation, shaking off its Federal shackles and to “stand among the nations (Sam Houston).”

Next, we look at the various issue-oriented groups that exist in Texas. Gun rights groups, the NRA, Tea Party, FairTax groups, anti-abortion groups, anti-immigration groups and list goes on. These groups already know how tough it is to make a dent in the culture and make a difference in Austin.

Separately, these groups stand little chance of turning the attention of the Texas populace toward their issues, or toward Texas Nationalism. But together, there could be synergy, and there would certainly be heightened awareness of the benefits of a nation of Texas.

A problem arises when any one of these group’s leaders assert that they and they alone are the Sine Qua Non…the pre-eminent and only…spokesmen for Texas Liberty. That is political suicide. Exclusion won’t work. Stating “you can’t be one of our members and be a member of any other group too” only makes you look petty, small and insecure. Take the time to get everybody who cares about individual liberty and property rights to gather under the big tent.

Texas Independence WILL NEVER HAPPEN if the Independence movement has little Napoleons all over Texas, each trying to carve out their little kingdoms. Texas Independence MUST be about two things and two things only…individual liberty and property rights. Because all the other single issues pale into insignificance when compared to individual liberty and property rights. Fighting turf wars, or arguing over single issues is akin to arranging deck chairs on the Titanic.

NOW is the time for planning and preparing for the future. NOW is the time that all the divergent groups must come together to unite around individual liberty and property rights. NOW is the time to prepare for the trigger event that will require a response.

It is my considered opinion that there MUST be an economic trigger to get the people of Texas to pivot toward nationhood. Recent history has shown that massive intrusion by Washington DC into the inner workings of the State of Texas have not resulted in a unified call for secession. The people of Texas and the state government in Austin will accept pretty much any legislation and insult visited upon them by DC. They may complain, but they will not fight back. Enough is NEVER enough.

So what could be the trigger? Stated more clearly…what WILL be the economic trigger?

The collapse of the US Dollar will be the economic event that will change the minds of people…from the outhouse to the State House…and galvanize public sentiment for secession and nationhood.

The Dollar will collapse, meaning that its purchasing power will collapse in a flurry of massive hyperinflation. The Western nations are all locked into a debt-based monetary system, linked to each other by the world reserve currency, the US Dollar. China is planning something different. China heads the BRICS nations (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South America), and China is moving steadily toward a gold-backed monetary system. China is making deals with nations all over the globe to clear monetary transactions without using the Dollar. And at some point soon, critical mass will be achieved, the new system will be in place, and the Chinese Renminbi will supplant the Dollar as World Reserve Currency. This could happen through any number of events:

1. China could simply announce that it is taking over, and the other nations will pivot to China.
2. China could dump Treasury bonds in a large quantity into the bond market, thereby collapsing the US Treasury Bond Market and the Dollar simultaneously. This could be a retaliatory tactic against Washington’s imperialism worldwide.
3. China can quietly continue to make more and more deals with other nations, and let market economics make the decision on what currency is World Reserve. (This is actually what China is doing now)
4. What happens when you loan money, the borrower defaults, and you cannot collect then debt? You go bankrupt. That is, in effect, what will happen to the Western banking system. What happens when a country like France or Germany simply says, “We are not going to play anymore. We are cashing in our US Treasuries today.” But what happens to Western banks when 100 countries all default on their debt or cash in their bond holdings? Collection is unenforceable. It will happen again in your lifetime.

But there will eventually be a tipping point…a black swan event, if you will. Inevitably, there will come a day when the trillions of US Dollars that have flooded the earth will be rejected by other nations. At that time, all of that currency will come flooding back to the USA. The dollar will become worthless seemingly overnight.

When Joe Sixpack in some tiny Texas town can’t buy one Shiner Beer with a $20 bill, you’ll know that he will listen when you talk about the benefits of secession and Texas nationhood. As I have stated in the past…missing a few meals tends to focus the mind on a solution. This example, though meant to be amusing, does not adequately speak to the devastating effects of a Dollar collapse. There will be widespread hunger, death, crime, societal breakdown and riots. Only those with hard assets and guns will have a chance of survival.

The faster Texas secedes and becomes a sovereign nation, the faster the crisis will be overcome.

And finally…I mentioned the State House earlier. Texas has a new governor now, Greg Abbott. From what I have seen, the Governor is no more a friend of Texas independence than Rick Perry was. And how many Texas legislators have publicly stated their unflagging support for secession from the United States? Are there any? My opinion is that Austin will not be the place you should look for leadership about Texas Independence…at least not before the economic trigger. Once the Dollar collapse happens, they will be meeting in emergency sessions trying to figure out what to do. Secession may look like a pretty good idea when their backs are against the wall. Just remember the old visual about a parade going down the street, and some politician jumping out in front of it so he looks like he’s leading it.

Texas will need statesmen, not politicians. Texas will need men of vision like Jefferson, Adams, Franklin and Paine. God grant that such men and women will step up when duty calls. Many statesmen and women exist now in groups like Freedom Texas and the TNM.

Texas patriots, the time is NOW to band together and work tirelessly toward the Nation of Texas.

Taxation in FRONA

The first thing you must do when considering taxation in The Free Republic of North America (FRONA) is throw out everything you ever thought you knew about taxation. But even before that, you must throw out everything you ever thought you knew about money.

The money of The Free Republic of North America is the Frona. There will be the gold Frona, the silver Frona and the copper Frona. Gold Fronas will likely be used for larger transactions. Silver and copper Fronas will be used as the day-to-day coinage of the nation. Pure gold and silver coinage from other nations would also be acceptable forms of money since they are denominated in fineness and weight. So for example, America Eagles, Austrian Philharmonics, South African Krugerrands, Australian Kookaburras, and Canadian Maple Leafs would all be seen regularly in FRONA transactions.

FRONA money is silver, gold and copper. It is not BACKED by precious metals. That defines a “Currency.” Currency is NOT MONEY. Precious metals ARE money when they are minted as money. But precious metals NOT minted as money can be used as money. If I have a one ounce gold chain of 18K fineness, any merchant could accept that as payment in a commercial transaction because the weight and fineness are known. If I have a one pound gold bar of .999% fineness, it spends just like 16 one ounce coins. Get it?

The next thing that you must do is to stop thinking of gold and silver coins in terms of their value against other currencies, such as the Dollar. Coinage is a function of weight, not price. Yes, there would have to be some exchange rate to convert other currencies to Fronas. But the free market would determine this floating exchange rate, not the FRONA government. US Dollars or Euros might not have a Frona exchange rate at any price after TSHTF. But I’ll bet that the Chinese Renminbi or the Brazilian Real will be just fine. The FRONA national Charter, in its clause about money, would require any minted coin to display its purity and weight, but no value. For those international coins that displayed a value, such as “One Dollar” or Twenty Dollars,” those words would have no meaning in FRONA. And the law would proscribe the penalty of death for anyone minting fraudulent coins or altering coins (clipping or shaving).

In FRONA, goods and services will be priced in WEIGHT, not dollars and cents. A pound of steak might be priced at 0.25 ounce of silver. A gallon of gasoline might be priced at 0.10 ounce of silver. And copper Fronas are there to facilitate the smallest physical transaction, down to the penny. But when using a debit card for transactions, amounts could be priced down to the hundredth or thousandth of an ounce.

There will be no national money and no national currency. This prevents FRONA from debasing the money and stealing from the citizens. The free market will decide what the medium of exchange is. Common sense suggests that gold, silver and copper coins will become money, and likely silver and copper coinage will be the most widely accepted medium of exchange for day-to-day transactions. (Actually, in the technological age in which we live, the digital transaction will likely be the most utilized medium of exchange. Most people will do daily business with debit cards.) The FRONA constitution will prohibit itself from enacting legal tender laws. If the FRONA Treasury wants to issue gold and silver coins it may do so, but enjoys no monopoly or control. It would have to compete in the free market like all other minting operations.

In FRONA, The Treasury Department collects funds in silver, gold and copper, not any other currency from any other nation of the world.

As an aside: The US Federal government has come up with poverty statistics over the years. And in 2012, DC considers you “in poverty” if your family of four earns $23,050 or less per year. Of course, you can own a house, a car, a refrigerator, a washer/dryer set, multiple TVs, multiple cell phones and a nice wardrobe. (Compare that to the per capita income in India of $1,219.00. Is there really poverty in America?) But in FRONA, all of that poverty statistical bullshit is swept away. The US Department of Agriculture determined that a family of three or more persons spent one-third of their after-tax income on food. But in FRONA, there is no Income tax, Social Security or Medicare deductions from a wage earner’s paycheck. So instantly, every FRONA wage earner gets a boost in take-home pay to 100%. And remember…the wage earner is getting paid in weight, not dollars.

* * * * * * * * *

As long as I am fantasizing about The Free Republic of North America, I want FRONA to be the identical boundaries of the State of Texas. After all, Texas is the US state with the most advanced secessionist movement, the Texas Nationalist Movement. And Texas is the state with the best chance of actually seceding and making nationhood work.

I pulled some demographic statistics from various sources for this article.

From the US Census:

-Median household income in TX 2010 – $50,049
-Households: 8.540 million, persons/hshld 2.78
-Per capita income 2010 TX $39,493 (rounding up to $39,500)
-TX population 2011 25,674,681

From the Bureau of Labor Statistics:
-TX Civilian Labor Force 9-12 12,632,000
-Unemployment rate: 6.8%

From Texas state website:
-TX state budget 2012 $80.6 Billion

So based upon those stats, I have made some rudimentary calculations. Remember that these are in Dollars, not ounces of money:

I am going out on a limb here and attributing the FRONA national saving rate at 10%. That means that everybody living in FRONA saves 10% of their income. Easy to do when you get paid 100% of what you earn.

-Per capita income $39,500 x 25.6M people = $101,120,000,000 ($101.12B)
-Per capita income $101.12 Billion x 10% = $10.112 B going into savings

Let’s say that 90% of per capita income was available to be spent. That is $35,550. Let’s say that on average, people do 75% of their transactions with merchants, which could generate a 10% sales tax. That is $26,663 x 10% = $2,666 per year in total taxation. $2,666 x 25.6m people = $68.250B.

This calculation does not include any tax revenue from transactions made by FRONA businesses. That could easily double the amount of sales tax revenue flowing into the national Treasury. These calculations also do not include tax revenue from non-citizens making purchases while in FRONA. More money for the Treasury. I can easily envision sales tax revenues in FRONA of $120-$150 Billion in FRONA’s first year in existence.

And the budget for the State of Texas for 2012 was about $80 Billion.

FRONA has only one source of revenue…a national sales tax of 10%. No property tax, excise tax, duties, tariffs, ad valorem tax, estate tax, corporate tax, income tax…NOTHING but the sales tax. In FRONA, the national sales tax pays for ALL government, even funding the governance needed down to the county and city level. There is NO OTHER SOURCE OF TAX REVENUE…PERIOD.

What happens to any surplus? Under the Charter I have written for FRONA, the government would declare a dividend and pay it back to the citizen/shareholders. Try to wrap your mind around THAT.

Now THAT’S the way a nation should work!

Secession is the only solution for individual liberty and property rights in North America.

By Russell D. Longcore

Welcome to Flash Editorials for November 16, 2012. I am Russell D. Longcore, owner and editor of DumpDC. Flash Editorials is presented by w w w dot Dump D C dot com. DumpDC is the world leader in secessionist thought. We show the world that secession is the only hope for personal liberty and property rights on the planet.

Some of the stuff I’ve seen happen this week…you can’t make up. Weeellll, that’s actually not true. Fiction writers fill novels with this kind of crazy stuff all the time. You just don’t usually see these stupid human tricks play out in real life. As the Chinese saying goes…“May you live in interesting times.” Let’s go to the news.

The Nation I: This week, some resourceful folks planted a bunch of secession petitions in the WhiteHouse.org website, and people from all over the nation began electronically signing them. As of today, there are petitions filed for all 50 states, and there have been over 700,000 digital signatures filed. I wrote an article this week in which I stated that the petitions are entirely incorrect, and that this is not the way a state secedes…by begging the current administration for permission to leave the Union. A few people left comments here at DumpDC fussing at me for not being wildly in favor of the petitions. So here is my latest comment. In the public relations game, even when they are talking ugly about you, they are still talking about you. I am glad that the secession petitions raised awareness about secession here in America. I am glad that Sean Hannity interviewed TNM president Daniel Miller on Hannity’s show Tuesday night. The more that America hears the word “secession,” the more comfortable they will be with it. And because America heard about it on TV, that somehow lends credibility to the story and the concept. Secession is a long way from reality. No governor or state house in America will take up this topic in a serious manner until AFTER the economic collapse. Then they will deal with it out of self-preservation.

The Nation II: The CIA/Benghazi/Petraeus story got legs. Lots of legs. Girls all over the place. Two generals are now in trouble along with two Florida military brass groupies (who knew that generals had groupies?). Paula Broadwell, Petraeus’ principal squeeze, has been found to have classified data on her computer, although the source of the data has not yet been revealed. Most of us only know about the CIA from what THEY tell us about themselves, or what we see on fictional TV shows or movies like The Bourne Trilogy. So America in its ignorance THINKS that our intelligence community is the best in the world. But that is just public relations. Our spies seem to be bumbling idiots that can’t run an “op” (operation) right, even if it means their own skin. And when the guys at the top are the biggest security risks of all, you know that shyt rolls downhill into the organization. I don’t want to demean all the operators in the CIA. There are career guys and gals that care deeply about doing their jobs right. But don’t you forget this…Afghanistan’s poppy crop had been all but obliterated by the Taliban. Now the Afghanis supply 90% of the world’s heroin market. Who is running that op? The CIA. Why? One reason…off-budget cash cow that funds all kinds of CIA shenanigans. And the guys at the top are always political appointees who couldn’t spell “intelligence” before they got their cushy jobs. Case in point…Leon Panetta. Are you kidding? This guy never even sat on a House Intelligence committee when he was a Congressman. Then all of a sudden, he is qualified to be head of the CIA? Based on what? And now the guy is the Secretary of Defense? Based on what? The fact that he was a second lieutenant in the Army in 1964? Pulleeeze. The CIA is broken, and won’t be fixed by DC. It will be fascinating to see what trained monkey that Obama will nominate as the next CIA Director.

International I: Oil giant BP (British Petroleum) has agreed to pay the largest CRIMINAL penalty in the history of the world because of its responsibility for the Deepwater Horizon disaster in the Gulf of Mexico in 2010. BP is going to plead guilty to obstruction of justice for lying to Congress about how much oil was spewing into the Gulf waters. The amount of the fine is $4.5 Billion. Up to now, the largest corporate criminal penalty ever paid was paid by drugmaker Pfizer in the amount of $1.2 Billion. But don’t worry about BP, though. They made a net profit of $5.5 Billion….in the third quarter of this year.

Business I: I am Founder of a private, secret, members-only Twitter group. We are limiting our membership to just 20 members, 5 are already in. If you have a Twitter following larger than 10,000, my group will give you exposure to over 200,000 tweets each day FOR FREE. If you want this kind of exposure for your Tweets, contact me on Twitter @russlongcore. Follow me, then leave me a direct message. We require members to sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement.

Business II: A couple weeks back, I learned about a new business concept called “Social Commerce.” We all know about Social Networking and how big it has become. The use of websites like Twitter, Facebook, Google Plus, LinkedIn, Pinterest and others has exploded in just a few short years. Remember, Facebook launched in 2004. So in eight years, it has become the giant it is now, with over 1 billion worldwide members.

“Social Commerce” is simply gaining access to the vast numbers of eyes looking at Social Networks for business purposes. Now, the traditional method of gaining that access is advertising. But advertising on social networks is not working out as well as expected. Facebook thought they were going to make a killing selling ads to business who wanted access to all those eyes. But Facebook’s stock price has gone from its IPO high of $38 to today’s price around $22.

Turns out that social network users don’t like ads any more than they do on TV. I want to see a show of hands. How many of you record TV shows…even sports events…to view later? And how many of you fast forward through the commercials? That’s what I thought. You ALL DO. So, how can a business take advantage of Social Networking?

Referrals. Networking. Word Of Mouth advertising…the most powerful and effective form of advertising in existence. And Word of Mouth advertising costs nothing. Think about this. You went to a movie you liked and you recommended it to friends. You ate a great meal at a restaurant and told your friends. That is Word Of Mouth advertising. But let me ask you this…did the theater or restaurant pay you any commission when your friends spent money there? Of Course Not!!

So how can you harness the power of Word Of Mouth advertising for your business? An even better question is…How can I start a business using Social Networking and turn in into Social Commerce?

That question leads me into tonight’s commercial message. Would you like to learn how you can make all your social networking PAY YOU! Let me introduce you to a new company named Solavei. Solavei just launched nationwide on September 21, 2012. They have created a company that will allow YOU to refer your friends and relatives and make money by doing it. You don’t have to sell anything. Simply post messages and links and let your friends family and acquaintances look for themselves. If they like what they see and make a purchase, you get paid!!

Solavei’s first Value Proposition is this: Unlimited talk, text and data on a 4G nationwide network for $49.00 per month. No Contract. No Credit Checks. No Deposits. You can bring your phone and phone number with you. And enrolling takes about 5-6 minutes online. I saved $46 a month by switching! That’s $552 a year and I’m getting more that I got with ATT.

Think about this: Cell phone service is a life-essential service that nearly every person from age 10 to age 100 has. And mobile phone users will not voluntarily give up their phone service. What would they do? Get a land line? That requires credit checks and deposits. So phone bills…like utility bills…will get paid every month even if other expenses get cut or eliminated altogether. That makes the business recession-proof.

Solavei’s business model is this: Refer people you know to Solavei. Economy I: The number of actual initial unemployment claims filed under state programs, unadjusted, totaled 466,348 in the week ending November 10th. This is a whopping increase of 104,548 over the previous week and is attributable to Hurricane Sandy hitting the Northeast. Yet when I heard a news report of this story on Fox Business this morning at 8:40 am…just ten minutes after the Labor Department released their numbers…Fox reported the cooked numbers of the “4-week moving average” of “only” 383,750 as a positive trend for the economy. You may get tired of seeing this story every week, but every week the Labor Department LIES TO AMERICA. Friends, this week’s figures increased by over 100,000 in a single WEEK! That is a hundred thousand people MORE than the usual 380,000 WEEKLY NEW CLAIMS! If any economic stories concern you, this slow-moving train wreck should bother you a lot. When is YOUR JOB going to be threatened? Do you have a Plan B just in case?

In Sports: The Atlanta Falcons lost to the Saints last Sunday so their record is now 7-1. Still pretty great. Just 3-4 years ago, the Falcons led the NFL in rushing yards gained. This year, they don’t seem to be able to move the ball on the ground. Can’t win games without a ground game. Time will tell. Other than that, nothing much to talk about in Sports this week.

Sports Part II: Anytime you get a chance to watch college football, watch the SEC games. The SEC is the number one college conference for rookie NFL players. And any SEC team can beat any other SEC team on any given Saturday. Top to bottom, the SEC is the best college football in America.

Finally, in Entertainment: Actor Channing Tatum has been named “Sexiest Man Alive 2012 ” by People Magazine. First thing I did when learning this is look at Wikipedia about the guy. I figured no way that Channing Tatum is his real name…sounds made up. My bad. It’s just a very Southern name. He’s a Mississippi boy and his daddy’s name is Glenn Tatum. But have you seen this kid? He’s mighty pretty. Hope he doesn’t get all paunchy and rotund like me later in life. I was pretty once, too. See? That’s me in my wrestling pose as a high school senior. Cute, huh?

That’s all for tonight. Thanks for watching. I am Russell D. Longcore. For all of us here at DumpDC: Good night and good luck.

The title is what cops say to gapers and rubberneckers at accident scenes. And I’m telling you that this story about secession petitions is a non-story. But I could be wrong. Happened before…

I was on the air Monday on WJCN 1360 am in Philadelphia from 3:00 to 4:00, being interviewed about secession. Loved it…caught some drive time listeners. The host, Susan Payne, was all excited about the story she had seen about secession petitions that have been sent to the White House. She mentioned a Washington Post article about the petitions. She asked me to comment.

I read the Washington Post article which quotes excerpts from the Alabama secession petition. Then I went to the WhiteHouse.gov website and actually read all the petitions. And nearly all of them are written incorrectly, beginning thus: “We petition the Obama Administration to Peacefully grant the State of _______ to withdraw from the United States of America and create its own new government.”

That is not the method whereby a state secedes. This is tantamount to an employer asking his employee for permission to fire the employee. Although the petitioners and signatories are sincere in their desires, they exhibit a breathtaking ignorance of history, law and the Constitution. I am also a product of government schools, but I did not stop reading books when I received my high school diploma. So while I would like to blame Federal schools for the mind-numbed populace, the numbing was self-inflicted by “Them The People.”

Reminds me of the Pink Floyd song, “Comfortably Numb”… “Just a little pin prick…..”

There are certain states that do not need to ask permission to secede from the Union because the Federal Government in Washington DC is not a party to the agreement between the states. DC has no standing, as they say in court proceedings. Any state properly secedes when it prepares an Ordinance of Secession and presents it to the other states.

An Ordinance of Secession is not a petition. It is a declaration of independence that revokes and dissolves the union between that state and the other states.

I can assure you that these petitions are not being taken seriously in Washington. Fact is, they welcome the diversion from the CIA Petraeus story.

A crucial point sprang into my bourbon-sotted mind as I wrote this article. The US Constitution was written and ratified (allegedly) by the thirteen sovereign nations that were the original thirteen colonies that fought and won the First North America Secession of 1776. Get it? Thirteen nations…not 50. Later, West Virginia was carved out of the State of Virginia by Lincoln and his cronies. Texas was a sovereign nation when it was granted statehood. And Hawaii was a sovereign nation that was overthrown by DC and stolen. ALL THE REST of the states that now exist WERE NOT NATIONS prior to their statehood. Some states were formed when sovereign nations actually DONATED land to the Federal Government. Most of the states were TERRITORIES, and not sovereign nations. And the territories were owned by Washington DC.¹

A reasonable argument could be made that any current state that was not a sovereign nation at the time it was granted statehood might have a difficult time seceding from the United States of America and getting shed of Washington. Understand that I am not an attorney, and I’m only offering my opinion on this date. I have not read the State Constitutions of any of the US States. More information may come to me that will cause me to change this opinion.

Looks to me like Texas is the front runner in the race to be a new nation!

Welcome to Flash Editorials for November 2, 2012. I am Russell D. Longcore, owner and editor of DumpDC. Flash Editorials is presented by http://www.DumpDC.com. DumpDC is the world leader in secessionist thought. We show the world that secession is the only hope for personal liberty and property rights on the planet.

video

This past week has been one for the record books. Something MAJOR happened on Tuesday. The daily traffic I get now at DumpDC.com is five times what it was on Monday. I wonder what could have caused that??? Let’s go to the news!

By the way, I use cuss words in this video. So if cuss words offend you, don’t watch this video. You’ve been warned.

The Nation I: Mr. Obama won. Deal with it.

Why did Barry win? Simple. The Republicans made a mildly convincing argument that America should fire Mr. Obama. The Republicans did not make a convincing argument that America should hire Mitt Romney.

Karl Rove actually said: “The October surprise was an act of God. Hurricane Sandy interrupted Mr. Romney’s momentum.” So what he must be saying is that God wanted Obama to win.

I wrote a brilliant analysis of the election and posted it on Thursday. You can just scroll down from here and read it. But, if you were educated in government schools and mostly get your information from TV, I will take a moment or two and spoon feed you. Open wide…….

No one in America has fronted the ridiculous notion that Mitt was the best man that the Republicans could find to be the presidential candidate. He just outspent and outlasted the others. And his campaign staff, in league with the Republican National Committee, blackballed Ron Paul.

No one in America has fronted the ridiculous notion that Americans rejected Mitt as president because they rejected his core beliefs. That is because nobody knows what Romney’s core beliefs are. He was the Chameleon Candidate. Reminded me of the 80s hit record “My Obsession” by Animotion. In the chorus, the singer sings, “you’re an obsession, you’re my obsession…who do you want me to be to make you sleep with me?”

Mitt would be anything you needed to get elected. Remember he ran for Senate against Teddy Kennedy in 1994 and got clubbed. He’s been doing anything he can to get elected to some office for 18 years. He got the Massachusetts governorship in 2002, only serving one term. That was enough to enhance a resume.

Think about the HUGE thing that Romney AVOIDED in his campaign… Obamacare. If he had solemnly vowed to abolish Obamacare as President, he probably would have won. Senior citizens nationwide are scared of getting their benefits cut under Obamacare. Even though he invented Romneycare in Massachusetts, he could have made a convincing case that what works on a state level does not translate to 315 million people…especially when Washington runs it. Or, if his ego wasn’t so enormous, he could have repudiated it entirely.

Think about Mr. Obama’s own words about his “one-term” presidency. Mitt should have beat Barry about the head and shoulders with that for months. But nary a word was heard. I never saw one clip of that video.

Think about the debates. Romney pulled his punches over and over, refusing to go for the jugular on issues like the Benghazi Embassy deaths or the unemployment rate…or even simple things like the price of a gallon of gasoline.

In Texas Hold-’em parlance…Mitt was not “all in.” He was not willing to get some blood on his hands, so to speak.

And American politics is a blood sport. Republicans are not willing to play rough. In NASCAR there is a saying…”Rubbin’ is Racin’.” A NASCAR driver has to be willing to swap a little paint with other cars or he will not win. But Republicans are not willing to get mean or use a little saucy language. They are not willing to get up in somebody’s face and raise their voices. Give me a candidate who would tell a reporter to “fuck off’ when he asked a stupid question. Republicans are too Goddamn afraid of what the media will say about them. A week ago, the media was all a-twitter because Obama used the word “bullshitter.” Not that they were critical, mind you. Romney would have never used that word ‘cause he is scared. Give me a candidate that would use some four-letter words in a speech. And give me a candidate who can speak without a teleprompter…a candidate who had such deeply-ingrained core beliefs that he could defend them on the fly. Ron Paul didn’t need a damned teleprompter. He spoke from his heart, which is where his core beliefs are.

Democrats are always willing to get down in the mud and mix it up. I’m not saying it’s right…just saying that if you know that the rules of the game are that there really are no rules, the one who wants it most usually wins. Barry was fighting for his political legacy and his place in history. Mitt Romney was running to enhance his resume. Who wanted it most? I leave it to you.

But also keep in mind that Romney is the guy that got beat by McCain who got beat by Obama in 2008. He got the Nominee Runner-up trophy in 2008. This year, he gets the Miss Congeniality tiara. Romney is only the best that the oligarchy could find to do their bidding. It is over for Mr. Romney and his quest for the White House.

Did you watch “The Matrix”? Neo was “The One.” Apparently, Mitt is not The One.

The big joke is that The One doesn’t exist. Obama is not The One. He is merely “A Current One. “

Both men are textbook Sociopaths.

So, what are you going to do over the next four years? You may not be happy, but are you going to just bitch about it, or are you going to take control of your own life? Don’t you think that NOW is a good time to seriously consider secession?

The Nation II: My friends at the Texas Nationalist Movement tell me that their website traffic….at TexasNationalist.com…and memberships have exploded since Tuesday. Some of the major talk radio stations have interviewed TNM president Daniel Miller about secession. I saw one online survey at KYFO 790 am in Lubbock that 88.73% of respondents are in favor of secession. The question they asked was…”Should Texas Secede?” That’s all. Three words. I love Texas.

By the way, I will be on the radio with Susan Payne from 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm on WJCN, 1360am in Philadelphia on Monday the 12th discussing secession. Tune in or stream the broadcast live.

The Nation III: CIA Director and former Brigadier General David Petraus has resigned as CIA Director, citing getting caught in an extramarital affair. Curious to me that this comes out only AFTER the election is over. This is the CIA. They’re spies. Anybody want to try to convince me that this was not known about before Tuesday? Next question that comes to mind is: Was he “outed” to get rid of him after the Benghazi Embassy incident, and allowed to resign with some modicum of dignity? Watch this story folks. It will last about three weeks and then die.

The Nation IV: Let’s revisit Tropical Storm Sandy. I’m kind of surprised that DC did not try to postpone the elections on Tuesday. But nothing came of all the rumors about martial law and election postponement. Maybe we give the dickheads in DC more credit than they deserve.

International I: The words “renounce citizenship” are now the fastest growing search terms at Google.com. Curiously, Google’s own analytics say that the searches came from such places as Washington state, California, Texas, Georgia, Florida and most of the states of the Eastern Seaboard. Folks, I have been telling you and I’m telling you now. Your choices for liberty are (a) move to a state where secession will likely occur, or (b) escape from America and expatriate. And to do nothing but bitch and do Google searches is also a choice.

Business: A couple weeks back, I learned about a new business concept called “Social Commerce.” We all know about Social Networking and how big it has become. The use of websites like Facebook, Twitter, Google Plus, LinkedIn, Pinterest and others has exploded in just a few short years.

But Facebook’s stock price has gone from its IPO high of $38 to today’s price around $19.

When those people sign up like you did, you will receive monthly commissions as long as those new customers remain Solavei customers. Solavei even has a plan whereby members can have their mobile phone service FOR FREE. How many people getting free phone service are going to switch to another carrier? NONE! No other phone provider can beat FREE, can they?

The Solavei Vision

Solavei Vision from Solavei on Vimeo.

Economy I: The number of actual initial unemployment claims filed under state programs, unadjusted, totaled 355,406 in the week ending November 3rd. This is an increase of 14,489 from the previous week. In the same press release, the Labor Department “seasonally adjusted” the number to show that it was 8,000 lower than last week. At least in this case, the lies are published for all to see. And the mainstream media publishes the lies the government gives them, not the actual number shown just ONE PARAGRAPH below the lies.

Sports Part I: The Atlanta Falcons have a 8-0 record in the National Football League. They did not look sharp last Sunday night against the Dallas Cowboys, but they still won. Ugly wins still count. This Sunday they take on the New Orleans Saints at the Superdome in “nawlins”. My wife and I were in the city for Mardi Gras this year. Nothing like New Orleans. Quick story. Julie and I were sitting in a seedy bar about a block off Bourbon Street one rainy afternoon and we engaged in conversation a long, lovely young lady sitting next to Julie. She handed her business card to Julie and invited BOTH of us to come to the “gentlemen’s club” that night were she would be workin’ the pole as a dancer. Sometimes my real life exceeds my fantasy life.

Finally, in Entertainment: Not a damned thing worth talking about happened in entertainment this week, but a couple headlines caught my eye. First, Shakespeare specialist Kenneth Branaugh was knighted by Queen Elizabeth this week. And most important of all…The Firefly series celebrates its 10th anniversary this weekend with a Firefly marathon on Sunday on The Science Channel on your cable or satellite provider. Awesome….

That’s all for tonight. Thanks for watching. I am Russell D. Longcore. For all of us here at Dump DC: Good night and good luck.

Secession: Who WILL Be First?

August 25, 2012

by Russell D. Longcore

I’ve been pondering a lot lately about which state it will be that will be the first to secede from the United States of America. For today, let me muse about Texas and Montana.

Texas has a vibrant secessionist organization called the Texas Nationalist Movement. Run by dynamic President Daniel Miller and charismatic Membership Director Cary Wise, they have spread the concept of Texas Independence far and wide in the Lone Star state. The TNM is by far the most well-operated and organized independence movement in the nation, and has touched more lives with the message of regaining personal liberty and nationhood than any other group in North America.

To my knowledge, Montana has no organized secessionist or independence group. So…you may ask…why pick Montana as a potential secession candidate?

Much has been written about The American Redoubt, a Western liberty “reservation” modeled roughly after Galt’s Gulch of the book Atlas Shrugged. The Redoubt could work but it would work best as a new North American nation, not simply a do-over of American government and American culture.

So let’s look at some informal observations about each state.

Distance From DC

Montana is about 1,800 miles from DC. Texas is about 1,500 away from DC. So no clear advantage there. Both are in the West.

Population

Texas has 26,400,000 people that can be counted…probably a lot more. Montana has 998,000. Texas has a long border with Mexico, and lots of illegals enter Texas across that border. Montana has a 500 mile-long border with Canada, and I would guess there are not a lot of naughty Canadians sneaking across the border so they can be Americans.

So, if 25% of Montana’s population became secession supporters, that would be about 250,000 people. If 25% of Texans got religion about secession, that would be 6.6 million. That means that about 20 million people in Texas would remain undecided or unsupportive of secession. My gut tells me that selling secession in Montana would be a lot easier to do.

Attitude

Texans have lots of attitude about their state. Everything’s better and bigger in Texas. The state was born of secession from Mexico, and that victory is still very important to the heritage and pride of Texans. But in a state of over 26 million people, there are lots of non-Texans who don’t share that Texas spirit.

Montanans have attitude also, and much of that attitude is found in the phrase “leave me alone.” That should not be confused with unfriendliness. I dare you to find a Montanan who is not friendly. The Montanans I’ve met are Montanans first, then US citizens second. They are fiercely independent and most would be willing to fight for their liberty.

Logistics

Texas has a shoreline on the Gulf of Mexico with many ports and an international border with Mexico. Montana is landlocked, with its northern border an international border with Canada.

Liveability

Liveability simply means that when the American economy collapses, where will it be easier to survive?

Texas has about any kind of terrain you could ask for. The piney woods of east Texas, the flatlands of the Panhandle, the hill country of SW Texas, the low country and shoreline of the Coast all have their charm. Texas has a nearly year-round growing season. However, Texas does not have the fresh water resources of Montana. Thank God for the big aquifers like the Edwards. The Texas economy is a growing and thriving. And don’t forget about its petroleum and natural gas resources. Texas will have no problem whatsoever existing successfully as a nation after secession.

Montana has the spectacular beauty of the Rocky Mountains, rolling plains, hills and valleys, even glaciers. The growing season in Montana is short, beginning in late spring and ending in early fall. But there is plenty of fresh water. They do not have the petro resources of Texas, and would have to import most of their needs.

Texas’ year-round climate is much more survivable than Montana’s climate. If you had to live in a tent in February, where would you rather be, Kalispell or San Antonio?

Federal Land

Montana has 30% of its land mass in Federal ownership. In 2011, the legislature considered SB254, which would have given Montana the authority to use eminent domain to take back federal land. The bill went nowhere.

Texas has only 1.9% of its land in Federal hands. Look at to see who owns the West.

So, it looks like it would be a lot easier to throw the Federal government out of Texas than Montana. But wait a minute.

Military Bases

Texas has 15 military bases on its soil. Montana has one small Air Force base. So, if DC wants to play rough in a secession scenario, Montana may have an advantage.

I am sure that there are other criteria that you can suggest that give one or the other an advantage in secession. But at this time, I still believe that Texas has the best chance of being the first state to secede from the United States of America.

Next time, we will look at Alaska and Hawaii.

Secession is the hope for humanity. Who will be first?

Remember The Alamo

March 6, 2012

by Chuck Baldwin

(Editor’s Note: Texas was seceding from Mexico when the Battle of the Alamo occurred. The Texians had been fighting to secede for ten YEARS. Ten. Years. And the Alamo patriots were wiped out at this battle. But this was not the last battle. General Santa Ana was defeated and captured at San Jacinto on April 21st, and Texas gained its independence and became a sovereign nation.

But could Texas do it again? Clearly, it could not happen with the current crop of politicians in Austin. But secession does not come from the statehouse. Secession wells up from among the people and overwhelms the statehouse. I believe there are enough men and women who love liberty…even though it is an unrequited love, a longing for something they have never actually experienced…that could band together and establish a New Texas. From my lips to God’s ears.)

March 6 marks the anniversary of the fall of the Alamo back in 1836. For more than 13 days, 186 brave and determined patriots withstood Santa Anna’s seasoned army of over 4,000 troops. To a man, the defenders of that mission fort knew they would never leave those ramparts alive. They had several opportunities to leave and live. Yet, they chose to fight and die. How foolish they must look to this generation of spoiled Americans.

It is difficult to recall that stouthearted men such as Davy Crockett (a nationally known frontiersman and former congressman), Will Travis (only 23 years old with a little baby at home), and Jim Bowie (a wealthy landowner with properties on both sides of the Rio Grande) really existed. These were real men with real dreams and real desires. Real blood flowed through their veins. They loved their families and enjoyed life as much as any of us do. There was something different about them, however. They possessed a commitment to liberty that transcended personal safety and comfort.

Liberty is an easy word to say, but it is a hard word to live up to. Freedom has little to do with financial gain or personal pleasure. Accompanying Freedom is her constant and unattractive companion, Responsibility. Neither is she an only child. Patriotism and Morality are her sisters. They are inseparable: destroy one and all will die.

Early in the siege, Travis wrote these words to the people of Texas: “Fellow Citizens & Compatriots: I am besieged by a thousand or more of the Mexicans under Santa Anna. . . . The enemy has demanded a surrender at discretion, otherwise the garrison are to be put to the sword . . . I have answered the demand with a cannon shot & our flag still waves proudly from the walls. I shall never surrender or retreat. . . . VICTORY OR DEATH! P.S. The Lord is on our side. . . .”

As you read those words, remember that Travis and the others did not have the A.C.L.U., P.E.T.A., the National Education Association, and the Southern Poverty Law Center telling them how intolerant and narrow-minded their notions of honor and patriotism were. A hostile media did not constantly castigate them as a bunch of wild-eyed extremists. As schoolchildren, they were not taught that their forefathers were nothing more than racist jerks. Neither did they have pastors constantly filling their hearts and minds with this imbecilic “Obey-the-government-no-matter-what” misinterpretation of Romans chapter 13.

The brave men at the Alamo labored under the belief that America (and Texas) really was “the land of the free and the home of the brave.” They believed God was on their side and the freedom of future generations depended on their courage and resolve. They further believed their posterity would remember their sacrifice as an act of love and devotion. It all looks pale now.

By today’s standards, the gallant men of the Alamo appear rather foolish. After all, they had no chance of winning–none. Yet, the call for pragmatism and practicality was never sounded. Instead, they answered the clarion call, “Victory or death!”

Please try to remember the heroes of the Alamo as you watch our gutless political and religious leaders surrender to globalism, corporatism, socialism, and political correctness. Try to recall the time in this country when ordinary men and women had the courage of their convictions and were willing to sacrifice their lives for freedom and independence.

One thing is certain: those courageous champions at the Alamo did not die for a political party or for some “lesser of two evils” mantra. They fought and died for a principle, and that principle was liberty and independence. So did the men at Lexington and Concord. That is our heritage.

Today, however, our national leaders are in the process of turning the United States over to the very forces that the Alamo defenders (and America’s Founding Fathers) gave their lives resisting. On second thought, do they look foolish, or do we?

Glenn Beck and Texas Independence

August 22, 2011

by Russell D. Longcore

I wrote an open letter to Glenn Beck back a year ago.

I wrote another article about Glenn Beck’s show cancellation on Fox News.

Now we learn that Mister Beck has escaped the liberal gravity field of Death Star New York and landed his craft in Dallas, Texas!!! He still continues to broadcast his nationally-syndicated radio show Monday through Friday on a station near you. And he has formed GBTV… Glenn Beck TV…to continue his quest for truth. GBTV begins September 12th.

Glenn has been excellent at researching and showing America all of the problems and threats to liberty. In my opinion, there is no one better.

I’m going to stick my neck out here and make some observations and predictions.

The Texas culture is a formidable influence in the lives of those who live in Texas. Democrat or Republican, Libertarian or socialist…Texans like being Texans. They like their history and heritage. They like the success and occasional ostentation of Texans. Texans truly believe that they do EVERYTHING better. Hard to argue. If the Texas economy was a nation, it would be the third strongest economy on earth.

A couple years ago, Beck had Texas Nationalist Movement President Daniel Miller on his Fox News show, where he belittled Miller and the concept of secession. Recently, Glenn stated openly on his radio show that while he does not presently support Texas Independence, he does not oppose it either. That in itself is a big substantive swing of opinion.

I suspect that the Texas culture will seep into Glenn Beck’s psyche over time…and not that much time, either. And national events will occur that will cause Glenn to look at how Texans react and respond. Now that Beck is 1,500 miles from New York, and what he says on his shows is not heavily influenced or censored, the monolithic culture of the Main Stream Media will be absent from his daily existence. Now the Texas culture has the same chance to influence Beck for the good like the Main Stream Media influenced him for evil. I believe that the transformation of Glenn Beck to secessionist is inevitable now that he lives, not just 1,500 miles from New York, but lives in Texas.

At the point that Glenn Beck considers himself to be a Texan, not just a guy who happens to live in Dallas, Texas independence and the concept of secession may gain a convert and cheerleader. Glenn may see it as the only logical choice for preserving liberty in North America. He will be right.

Predictions

I predict that within one year, Glenn Beck will speak in favor of the concept of secession generally, and Texas Independence specifically. He will agree that Nullification is for Sissies, and reject Tenth Amendment remedies that will not work.

I predict that, when Beck begins to promote secession, his audience will grow exponentially, becoming larger than he as ever experienced in his career.

I believe that with Beck’s support and media influence, Texas Independence will be on the lips of most Texans, and his promotion of Texas Independence will help galvanize Texans to secede from the Union.

Of course, I could be wrong. It’s happened before.

Secession is the Hope for Mankind. Who will be first?

An Op-Ed Piece About Texas

August 20, 2011

by Linda Brady Traynham

(Editor’s Note: The razor mind of Mrs. Traynham jacks me up for my stance on the national sales tax, among other things. Linda is always worth reading, even when I’m the one getting a tune-up. I still like my idea, but she’s pointed out some cool things about Texas that bear reading.)

ARE YOU OUT OF YOUR FLAMING MIND? The LAST thing we want to do is re-write the 1836 Constitution, which has been “brought up to date” legally to include universal suffrage, God knows why. Of all the horrors and dangers, the very worst is that a convention would be packed with Progressives who would vote in all the laws and regulations killing us now. The whole point of secession is to go back as far as we can and start over, changing as little as possible. What possible difference does it make what we call ourselves if we have the same Nanny State? What does “The Republic of Texas” mean if it is under the rule of Homeland Security and the Greens? Would it make any difference if we called ourselves “Texicans” if we still had stupid, needless, restraint of trade licenses and school teachers pushing socialism and “modern” “values?” We’ve got a real’ nice little Constitution just as it is. The President gets a salary of $10,000/year and a mansion, and nobody’s salary can be raised during their tenure. I may have a nervous breakdown. I will read the rest of your article later, but I had to stop right here and scream. We do NOT need more laws, regulations, and taxes. We need no regulations that are not written into law, one subject per law, in ordinary English, not written FOR big interest groups BY big interest groups.

I’m sorry, Russell, dear. You know I think the world of you and have the highest opinion of your mind and your work, but NO, we don’t need an enormous sales tax or anything else along that line. Those of us who have worked for years have in mind a 15% tax on all corporations not based in Texas (such as one out of Bentonville, Arkansas), and a 10% flat tax on new residents for two years. Keep your nose clean, obey our very few laws, behave yourself, and after two years you are a citizen and the tax goes away. NO welfare. NO Medicaid. The FEDS owe us Social Security and Medicare as a matter of private contract. Oil revenue, under the control of the Texas Railroad Commission, pays for schooling in our Constitution–and by the US Supreme Court ruling and international law we own out to 200 miles and nobody can tell us we can’t drill. I think you published my article on how the school system will be restructured (if we win), and citizens can have any sort of schools they want to pay for, “they” meaning “those who have children in schools.” With no income tax and no gas taxes and no sales tax they can afford private schools. They can home school. For all I care, they can lease current buildings and pay for utilities, upkeep, teachers, and textbooks, but that is a decision for a neithborhood. All OUR wonderful Constitution says is that we must have a “plan” to educate the children. Fine. I’ve got a plan. There’s more to it, but the basic idea is that part of the slavery is forcing me to pay for the education of the children of others. On-line schooling can be up for all but free. A dedicated channel teaching reading, arithmetic, history prior to 1950, geography, taped lectures by our very best teachers would cost very little to set up and after that it runs 24 hours a day and people can watch or not. Their choice. THAT is what we are fighting for, individual choice and not paying for the “kindness” of others. What’s destroying us is the biggest cities full of “gimme, gimme, gimme,” and, of course, that nobody is willing to admit that Mexico is at war with us. TANSTAFL, buddy. Anything enough people want some entrepreneur will provide. The rest we can do without. What about roads? What roads, where? Toll roads work fine and are lucrative. We got along beautifully from 1842 until a few years ago with a simple dirt road past the ranch which got graded occasionally. Paving it was hideously expensive and added nothing. So far as I’m concerned it can deteriorate to gravel, and if my new city slicker neighbors don’t agree they can repair it. And they can pay for it because they are the ones that want it–and they can either eat the cost or they can pitch in land and expenses and I’ll drive slowly on whatever is left of the old road because I don’t want to go anywhere much anyway. OUR Constitution calls for simple “common law courts,” a system of elected judges (who don’t get paid much) and the first half dozen citizens grabbed at random. Nice short trials. No lawyers. The decision of the jury is final. Anyone who doesn’t like it can either not get in trouble or move. If it were my choice we’d outsource all prisons to Mexico, a land with a real talent for discouraging recidivism…and anybody who commits a felony loses citizenship. Real simple laws, like “You broke it, you bought it.” Sure you can drive without insurance…but if you cause the wreck you will pay every dime needed for repair, and if it costs you your house, that’s fine. It was your choice not to buy insurance. What if everything isn’t enough? Well, you can become an indentured servant until you work it off. What about your family? Well, you should have thought of that before you chose not to buy very inexpensive liability insurance, and your family should have mentioned the subject until you did. No, I am NOT out of my mind. People must learn that they are responsible for their own behavior and the consequences of their actions. Take all the chances you feel like you can afford, but know that justice will be swift and sure.

Accept that nobody owes you anything because you breathe. Accept that charity is the province of families, churches, and clubs devoted to that purpose, NOT the purview of government. Understand that most of us are tired of having guns held to our heads to pay lavish living expenses for those who choose not to work, many of whom are here illegally. We don’t care what happens to you. We don’t care about the sacred environment as presented by junk science, although we love our land passionately and take care of it with our own toil. Get rid of city councils and Home Owner’s Associations and raise chickens; at least you’ll have something to eat. Anybody who doesn’t like it can leave. I am sick of the tyranny of NIMBY and those who profit vastly by terrorizing the Amish for selling supremely healthful fresh milk. Under our rules, IF you can prove that their milk made you sick, they owe you for doctors’ bills, lost work time, and the value of the “bad” milk, except spoiled food doesn’t come from small farms and ranches; it is manufactured in big plants that are inspected constantly, at enormous expense. Some inspectors are even bribable, you know. Grow your own or buy from those who consume what they grow.

Stop expecting the rest of us to pay for what you want. Stop requiring that barbers need an expensive school and license to cut a man’s hair; the worst that can happen is a bad haircut will grow out in a couple of weeks, people learn Joe isn’t a good barber, and he goes out of business. Stop obsessing over “codes.” If the house falls down the builder is responsible and must make restitution. Get it through your heads that more and more of us really don’t want or need your stupid regulations which are destroying our business frivolously. I’ve been dealing with the EPA since January on a dump begun in 1842 when it was quite legal…but “ex post facto” doesn’t have much to do with laws any more and has nothing to do with regulations. Their demands have been so outrageous I gave up and fired one of the hand, not being able to print my own money. That’s great for the economy! Hey, if he has to drop out of college, tough, huh? Can’t go around throwing ancient metal and old tires in MY forest, you know, even though the deer and wild hogs really don’t care. Can’t bury old plastic grocery store bags, even though those would keep the precious rain close to the surface. We’re only talking about half an acre or so, not visible to anyone, and it has cost me hundreds of man hours and we still aren’t through. In theory I can dump 2500 pounds/person/per year on my own land, but once you dig through all the regulations (presented as legal citations I can pay my lawyer $250/hour to look up), it turns out that I can’t dump anything. By regulations. Written by those we never elected, who are checked by no one, however you define “checked.” I don’t have much trouble with a series of guidelines others can follow or not, but by what right does some regulator (or even Congress or the Legislature) tell me I have to upgrade from R38 to R50 whether I can afford it or not? Who are THEY to tell you what sort of light bulbs you can use or mandate how much water you can use to flush your toilet? (I am convinced low flush toilets are a health hazard. Fortunately, I have a simple solution: go buy an old one and install it. Toilets are really very simple machines any idiot can hook up and repair. It’s illegal, many places, but don’t ask, don’t tell..)

No…our only chance is to dismantle what the Statists have done. Other than that, all we will do is substitute one set of slave masters for another. Even the Egyptians are bright enough to have figured out they were better off under Mubarak, and sentencing him to death for “war crimes” won’t solve anything. It does create a new problem: Col. Qadaffi has no option but to fight on. The USA and Switzerland have already stolen Libya’s money and he knows his fate if he says “Fine, I quit.” He will be hunted down like an animal and killed. Tripoli lies in ruins because the Obama crowd decided to “protect” civilians. Must make them feel really safe every time another million dollar missile thuds in destroying housing, buildings, and non-combattants. And DC whines, “Well, it was really NATO and the UN said it was a good idea.” Terrific. It would have been a lot cheaper and kinder to send in professional demolition teams to bring the houses down neatly. It would have been a lot smarter and more ethical to stay out of a simple family squabble which started primarily because of the “success” in Egypt. I’m waiting for the day the UN decides that Phoenix needs “protecting” because of the drug cartels. Lots of murders and the kidnapping capitol of the USA, hey, it’s a natural. While I’m on the subject…it really feels good to know that “the greatest nation on earth,” the bastion of liberty, freedom, and justice can’t manage to beat Libya in an unfair fight in six months paying mercenaries, while our “good” guys cruise high in the sky, out of range. Oh, it makes me proud to be an American. Secession? We had better be worrying about our necks.
