International: Rioters burn London and 11 other British cities. Armed American businessmen will shoot looters, whereas Europeans have been disarmed. Looters here in the USA will also be armed. But better to be tried by 12 than carried by 6. Think about it.
International II: Italy and Spain teeter on the razor’s edge of insolvency. Remember what happens between a leech and its host. Eventually, the leech kills the host before it dies itself. Then, transfer that story to Washington. DC is the leech, and America is the host. Washington has placed our very way of life at grave peril by sucking America dry. But DC is not done.
The Nation: The Iowa Straw Poll happens today. This event is custom made for a lapdog media. It’s a beauty contest for Republican presidential wannabes that means absolutely nothing. This is like choosing a new voodoo doctor for the village…different feathers, different dance, same jibberish and incantations, same outcome. No matter which candidate “wins” here, or eventually wins the party nomination, Washington’s terminal fate is certain.
The Nation II: Texas Governor Rick Perry will try to steal the thunder from Iowa today as he announces his Presidential candidacy. Y’all might want to read this article before you get too excited about Slick Rick.
The Nation III: Another 395,000 people enrolled for unemployment benefits in the week ending August 6th. To give you something to compare that to…that’s like the entire population of Oakland, California or Omaha, Nebraska making new claims in one week.
The Nation IV: Standard and Poors downgraded US debt from AAA to AA+. You know the S&P…those paragons of virtue that gave Fannie and Freddie, and other financial institutions that carried junk mortgages the same AAA rating. Not that DC doesn’t deserve a downgrade. The AAA rating should be reserved for entities that actually manage their finances correctly, not criminal enterprises like the US Federal Government.
Economy: The stock market swings like a pendulum do, as the Dow loses about 2,000 points in a week or two. Meanwhile, gold tops $1,800 per ounce. Investors and market makers are clueless on where to place money. Out of the market would be the safest place right now. Buy gold and silver.
Business: Apple replaces Exxon/Mobil as the world’s largest company based on its market value. But market value will keep swinging wildly, so expect them to bounce.
Sports: Football is back! I watched my first pre-season NFL game Friday evening. That is proof that God loves us and wants us to be happy.
Entertainment: This week, the producers of “Sesame Street” actually issued a statement to finally kill the trumped-up stories that Bert and Ernie are gay. Apparently, even when it’s a case of two male puppets living under the same roof in a fictional world, they are automatically considered homosexuals. Tragic.
