Utah Considers Return to Gold, Silver Coins

By Stephen Clark

(Editor’s Note: I say it here…it comes out there. I’ve been calling for some states to reclaim the power of the purse. And I said that the first thing to do, to begin getting their citizens used to paying for goods and services in gold and silver, is to begin requiring tax payments in gold and silver coin. Utah is the first to even consider it. Whether they do it or not remains to be seen.)

I’m always a little uncomfortable with any state involvement in this issue. We really need a ‘free market’ in money along the lines of the Liberty Dollar (raided by the feds and shutdown over trumped charges).

It is always some fed spokesman putting down a gold standard, but does not acknowledge that the FDIC is bankrupt and the Federal Reserve has failed to ‘maintain a stable value of its currency’ which was one of its mandates.

A free market in money is not perfect of course, but I’ll that that over these clowns devaluing my money.

Dear Txs: Look at this as a surprising step forward toward liberty. At this point Utah is the only state thinking this way seriously. Better this than more fiat money and fractional reserve banking, which are both fraud and theft. Russ
