Glenn Beck’s DC Rally and Secession

In the sales world there is a truism: “You’ve got to prove there is a problem before you offer your solution.”

In the world of the preacher there is a slogan: “You’ve got to get ‘em lost before you show ‘em how to get saved.”

Glenn Beck has never heard these truisms. Otherwise, he would not have said and done the things he did at his Washington rally. Beck is great at identifying problems, knows the truest solutions, but dares not speak of them.

I’ve written about Beck in the past. I even wrote him an open letter HERE. And I must say, Glenn Beck is all about consistency. But the consistency of his message is the consistency of smoke, not rock solid truth.

I’m not saying Beck is lying about anything. The title “Restoring Honor” for the rally was sufficiently vague that everyone can make up their own definition of what that means. But let me make a couple of comparisons from your daily life to illustrate my point.

• Your church’s minister delivers a sermon that brings you to a place of heavy guilt and outright contrition. You feel your heart is going to burst. Suddenly, he says “Peace be with you,” and the sermon’s over.
• You watch a motion picture, perfectly constructed with a stimulating plot, intrigue, car chases, suspense, a climax and a music track that brings you to the edge of your seat. Suddenly, the DVD ends and says go to the next DVD. But you look in the box, and there’s no second DVD there.
• You and your lover begin the throes of passion. And right before the logical conclusion of your heavy breathing occurs, she says “Not tonight.” The pain that most men will experience after such a disappointment is commonly called “blue ball.” A male will feel like he was kicked in the crotch.

What is common to each of these examples? Commitment with no answers…excitement with no resolution…passion with no release.

That perfectly sums up Beck’s radio show, his TV show and his DC rally. Huge buildup…no resolution. Beck does a masterful job carefully outlining all the outrageous tyranny happening across the fruited plain, and billowing out of Mordor on the Potomac, Washington DC. But problems are all you’ll get from him.

Glenn Beck’s rally could have been a watershed event for liberty. But it probably did more to damage the cause of liberty in America than any rally heretofore. Beck got the crowd, and all Americans who watched the rally remotely, to acknowledge all the problems. But Beck offers no solutions. So, once the attendees and viewers have heard the Libera Me, Domine movement of Becks 8-28 Requiem, they are left with hand-wringing desperation but no direction…other than to pray more.

A case of national “blue ball,” courtesy of Glenn Beck.

The solutions will not be found on the radio and TV programs of any talk show hosts except Mike Church and Andrew Napolitano. The solutions will not be found in Tea Parties. The solutions will not be found in party politics. The solutions will not be found at the Tenth Amendment Center. The solutions will not be found in Article V rallies, which promote a Constitutional Convention. The solutions will not be found in Tom Woods’ book Nullification. Nullification is for Sissies.

The only solution to restore honor in America is state secession.

Glenn Beck is an establishment shill. You know this from the mere fact that he has a 60-minute Monday-through-Friday 5:00 show on FoxNews. He is a cheerleader for Abraham Lincoln, the father of American tyranny. He is an unapologetic enthusiast for the US military and all they do, both at home and abroad. And Glenn Beck is a neoconservative, trying to convince viewers and listeners that he is the watchman on the wall. And as long as this is the limit of his message, he and FoxNews will get along fine.

Beck, and the entire Conservative and Tea Party movement, still rely on the societal memory of the definition of the word “conservative” for political cover. In daily parlance, it means “disposed to preserve existing conditions, institutions, etc., or to restore traditional ones, and to limit change:” also, “cautiously moderate.” Americans like to think of themselves as those who live cautiously moderate lives, and people with a wish to restore traditional institutions.

Tea Party conservatives are nothing of the sort. Today’s Conservatives are big government devotees whose only desire is to accrete political power and control the Federal checkbook. Beck and his ilk want you to perceive them as leaders who wish to return to traditional values. As I always say…actions speak louder than words.

When your rally’s keynote speaker is neocon Sarah Palin, who can take your rally to “Restore American Values” seriously? Palin just got done endorsing John McCain, and helping him win another Senate term. That act does nothing to advance individual liberty and property rights. But it does protect the status quo.

Do not ever expect to hear Glenn Beck espouse secessionist principles from his own lips. In my opinion, Judge Andrew Napolitano’s terrific Freedom Watch show is a FoxNews test show to see what its market is. On the day that Beck produces a show that promotes state secession, I will begin to consider that he MIGHT BE a man who embraces the truest solution to America’s desperate problems. That solution is Secession.

My friend Dennis just had a liver transplant in August. He tells me that he knew he was very sick, but now that he has a new liver, even during the recuperative process he has more energy than he has had in 20 years. But he got sick slowly, and a transplant saved his life. Nothing else would have worked. The diseased organ had to be removed from the body to save his life.

I hope you see a lesson there.

Most of us that beat the drum for secession are shouting into a hurricane, trying to be heard above the sound of the storm. We keep asking America the question…””What’s it going to take to wake you up and beat back tyranny?”

Tyranny is not enough to move most modern Americans to ultimate outrage and positive action. They were born into tyranny and slavery, and their lungs have been filled with it since birth. How do you know the air is polluted if you’ve never breathed pure oxygen? Everyone you know breathes the same air. And how would you develop a desire for pure oxygen if you were not told it exists?

What is it going to take? Complete economic collapse. Sure…Americans should act before the collapse, but 95% of Americans will not. Americans will BEGIN to ask the right questions when the banks close, the ATMs stop working, the grocery shelves are empty and the food riots begin. Missing meals will focus the mind.

Police officers and military personnel know something from crowd control training. Scared crowds are panicky and dangerous. Most folks will not look to their state capitol for aid and comfort. Most will look to DC for orders. They will be glad for the martial law that they are forced to live under. At least it will seem like order.

Readers, you know this in your heart. This is not to say that we should stop sounding the alarm. Quite the contrary. But, just like a kid watching the TV doesn’t hear Mom calling him to dinner until she hollers, Americans won’t hear secessionists until the crisis happens. And even then, most won’t default to liberty. They will default to serfdom, since that is how they already live. Most men do not desire liberty: most only wish for a just master (Sallust).

Just like in the pre-revolution colonies, it will be the slim minority that pushes secession and independence. But it will take hold in a couple of states. The Texas Nationalist Movement is the current leader. Perhaps Vermont.

Keep generating the oxygen of liberty. Some will catch a breath and want more.

Secession is the Hope For Mankind. Who will be first?

It is unbelievable how many folks just don’t get it.
The success of our Nation rests on the Return to the Foundation of Principles that made us a SUCCESSFUL, CHRISTIAN NATION from the start.
The Founding Fathers worked hard and long to build a successful REPUBLIC.
We need to RETURN to the GODLY VALUES upon which our REPUBLIC was founded.
That is what will SAVE our NATION!
The Restoring HONOR Rally was successful for the folks that DO UNDERSTAND it.
    I am one of them.

    • dumpdc says:

Dear Mr. Geek- I’ve allowed your comment to remain to make a point to other readers. Returning to a republic will NOT save our nation. There is nothing that can be done to return to the beginning. America needs to de-nationalize into the separate and sovereign nations it was intended to be. Secession is the only solution to Federal tyranny, not simply getting new masters that have godly values. Sorry, Mr. Geek, but the rally was a bust, and you have not perceived it yet. Take off the christian nation goggles and see liberty on its own.

      • Chuck says:

        “Liberty on its own”?

In virtue of what is liberty liberty?

      • dumpdc says:

        Chuck-

Jefferson’s Declaration of Independence spoke of a Creator who endowed men with unalienable rights, not the Ten Commandments. All are created equal? The only things men share equally are those unalienable rights…and a 24-hour day. Many men squander both their rights and their daily hours. That’s how some get wealthy and some get poor with the same 24-hours available to them. Liberty is found in that natural law that all humans receive from God. When the colonies beat the English, they were 13 sovereign nations under Articles of Confederation. Some of those colonies liked the idea of government-supported churches. But that was their sovereign right as free nations.

The Declaration of Independence is our Secession document. The Constitution is the document in which later men tried to re-create a tyrannical central government. They were successful.

  3. Chuck says:

Russ, thank you for dealing with the question. You wrote, “Liberty is found in that natural law that all humans receive from God.”
Now, the question is, “Which natural law?” Versions of “natural law” contradict one another.
    Chuck

  4. Chuck says:

…Even versions of “natural law” such that “all humans receive [it] from God” contradict one another.

    • dumpdc says:

      OK, Chuck-
Now we’re making progress. Let’s all try to enumerate the elements of Natural Law. I already posted “The Case For And Against Natural Law,” now in the Archives. When we begin protecting our Natural Law rights with our forms of governance, we’ll be back on the road to liberty.

      Russ

      • Chuck says:

Russ, just a few aspects of the Christian natural law theory to which I subscribe are

“1.) Natural law exists but it can’t be appealed to as a mechanism to build societal harmony or social order by, since men suppress the truth in unrighteousness…
“3.)For Natural law to work it has to exist within a overarching agreed upon theological matrix / paradigm. You can have Christian Natural law work as a organizing mechanism for a social order but it is not working because of the Natural law component but because of the Christian framework that is informing Natural law and in which the natural law expression is resting. Some faith system is always prior to some Natural law expression…
“5.) …Natural Law can never work in a social order context that exists within overarching theological matrix of multiculturalism. Multiculturalism’s (pluralistic modernity) very definition requires as many Natural Laws as there are variant cultures comprising the “multi-cultural” project. To appeal to one Natural law in a multicultural society is in direct contradiction to the whole multicultural project. Multiculturalism demands multi-Natural-law theories…
“7.) One’s thinking about what [he is] receiving in Natural law is already religiously conditioned, since [he] as the thinker [is] religiously conditioned. As man thinks about whatever he thinks about he thinks about it from a religiously conditioned viewpoint.
The whole “LIGHT” in the “light of nature” is only light as general revelation is read through the prism of special revelation.” (Bret McAtee)

These aspects of my natural law theory contradict those of others’ natural law theories, so one cannot appeal to “Natural Law”, even to “Theistic Natural Law” for an account of liberty.

        Chuck

      • dumpdc says:

Chuck- I agree that Natural Law is a problem. If it is a higher authority than government, who decides the sticky points of natural law? The Church? Which church? The Christian Church (Christendom) since the second century hasn’t had such a great reputation for upholding “truth.” Because we all have to ask, “What is truth?” Who then? The Hebrews? The Hindus? The Muslims? The Buddhists? The Mormons? The Agnostics? The JWs? Nope. None of them have the ability to rise to the occasion because they ALL attempt to make a religion out of their beliefs. But human rights could be identified non-religiously, and a moral code can be crafted. From that, Natural Law could be defined.

Great points, Chuck. Thanks for your input.
        Russ

  5. Malalex says:

… think you’re being too harsh on Beck. In sci-fi they talk about ‘future-shock’ (cf Eliezer Yudkowsky). Idea is you’ve got to ease people into a revolutionary idea, can’t spring it on them at once. So if you’re selling immortality, start with the notion cancer will someday be cured, work up from there.

So, you’re promoting a great idea that is, for most people, radical yet. Beck’s, in my view, hammering home that we’re in a crisis, and people need to come together, outside the political system, and form a movement for radical change.

In future-shock terms, he’s taking a good step. Obviously he’s light years behind you, but he’s an obvious ally, and his millions of followers are your natural constituency. I’d see how Beck and Tea Partiers fit with your plan – I don’t have to remind you secessionists are not so numerous you can’t use allies.

So, you gotta decide – are you building a movement, or curmudgeoning. I’m not judging – either is legit. If you’re hoping to change the world, though, I’d go with the movement.

    • dumpdc says:

      Malalex-

I never intended to create a movement when I started this website. If a movement is forming, it’s because I’m one of many offering the Secession solution. I’m not much interested in easing people in, and I get comments all the time that tell me I need to go easier…perhaps compromise, like the Tea Partiers, Tenth Amendmenters and the Nullifiers. But someone has to stand for the purity of the solution. That’s where you’ll find me. I’m willing to keep beating this drum and I’ll wait until the SHTF. Then, I’ll look like the old sage. Thanks for writing.
      Russ

      • Malalex says:

Fair enough, Russ. No doubt there’s a need. Thanks for responding, and thank you for writing your site in the first place!

      • Chuckle…one of my friends who has devoted years to restoration of the Republic of Texas was attacked verbally with “You’re trying to raise an army.”

The Colonel replied calmly and seriously, “I’m not trying to raise an army. I’m trying to raise a nation.”

Words that should go on the pedastal of his likeness cast in bronze if Texans regain our freedom. That’s downright statesmanlike.

  6. Re: Purity.

  7. C. Session says:

I am not a Glenn Beck fan, and never have been. Fortunately, I do not have a cable package that affords me the opportunity to be brainwashed by Fox News, and their cast of “conservative” talking heads, including the esteemed Glenn Beck.

My heart goes out to all of those who attended Beck’s rally. I believe that all of those who attended truly hope, and maybe even believe, that Beck is some kind of a modern day, incarnate version of Howard Beale, but he is not.

Those who attended the rally are people, who know that the monstrous leviathan on the Potomac, has stopped listening to them, and perhaps they believe that Beck can grab Congress, or Obama, or the courts, or the MSM by the ear and get them to understand, on behalf of the down trodden American people, that “we are mad as hell, and we are not going to take this anymore!”

It is distressing that so many people are feeling so hopeless and helpless that they would attend Beck’s pep rally for America at all, let alone entrust their dreams of “restoring the Republic” to such a man as Glenn Beck. A guy who sits and chuckles at the feet of Bill O’Reilly like Ed McMcahon used to with Johnny Carson on the Tonight Show.

How so many Americans can be so thoroughly duped by a man who gets paid to play a “conservative” on television is very disheartening to me. It is utter desperation for sure.

For me, I found peace, when I tossed aside any hope of “restoring the Republic”; when I admitted that Bush I and Bush II were frauds; admitted that Obama is a hand-picked servant of the folks down at New World Order Headquarters,; when I extrapolated that if another POTUS should ever be elected after Obama, that he could only be worse than Obama – perhaps even Satan himself; when I stopped drooling over the thought of waking up every morning in America with Sara Palin in the White House; when I refused, any longer, to play the Republican/Good, Democrat/Bad game because the only difference between the two parties is the color and shape of thier party mascots.

Peace came to me when I embraced the idea of secession as the only hope for what was America.

    Who will be ther first?

My money is on Montana now because Pastor Chuck Baldwin and his entire famil are moving there. Montana now has a secessionist leader.

    • In the kindest, gentlest way possible, you sound depressed. That’s speaking as a counselor. Have you tried getting up and doing something about the problem–in your case, moving to Montana should do wonders for the inner peace you want. Good luck. LBT

  8. C. Session says:

I didn’t bother to listen to any of what Glenn Beck did say at his pep rally, but this is what he should have said:

Howard Beale: I don’t have to tell you things are bad. Everybody knows things are bad. It’s a depression. Everybody’s out of work or scared of losing their job. The dollar buys a nickel’s work, banks are going bust, shopkeepers keep a gun under the counter. Punks are running wild in the street and there’s nobody anywhere who seems to know what to do, and there’s no end to it. We know the air is unfit to breathe and our food is unfit to eat, and we sit watching our TV’s while some local newscaster tells us that today we had fifteen homicides and sixty-three violent crimes, as if that’s the way it’s supposed to be. We know things are bad – worse than bad. They’re crazy. It’s like everything everywhere is going crazy, so we don’t go out anymore. We sit in the house, and slowly the world we are living in is getting smaller, and all we say is, ‘Please, at least leave us alone in our living rooms. Let me have my toaster and my TV and my steel-belted radials and I won’t say anything. Just leave us alone.’ Well, I’m not gonna leave you alone. I want you to get mad! I don’t want you to protest. I don’t want you to riot – I don’t want you to write to your congressman because I wouldn’t know what to tell you to write. I don’t know what to do about the depression and the inflation and the Russians and the crime in the street. All I know is that first you’ve got to get mad.

Howard Beale: [shouting] You’ve got to say, ‘I’m a HUMAN BEING, Goddamnit! My life has VALUE!’ So I want you to get up now. I want all of you to get up out of your chairs. I want you to get up right now and go to the window. Open it, and stick your head out, and yell,

    [shouting]

Howard Beale: ‘I’M AS MAD AS HELL, AND I’M NOT GOING TO TAKE THIS ANYMORE!’ I want you to get up right now, sit up, go to your windows, open them and stick your head out and yell – ‘I’m as mad as hell and I’m not going to take this anymore!’ Things have got to change. But first, you’ve gotta get mad!… You’ve got to say, ‘I’m as mad as hell, and I’m not going to take this anymore!’ Then we’ll figure out what to do about the depression and the inflation and the oil crisis. But first get up out of your chairs, open the window, stick your head out, and yell, and say it:
Howard Beale: [screaming at the top of his lungs] “I’M AS MAD AS HELL, AND I’M NOT GOING TO TAKE THIS ANYMORE!”

Who will be the first you ask?

I say Montana! What say you?!

  9. Chuck says:

Russ: “But human rights could be identified non-religiously, and a moral code can be crafted. From that, Natural Law could be defined.”

Russ, everyone “makes a religion” out of his most treasured beliefs, regardless of what they are. Every human being has beliefs which are immune from revision; he will hold to them even if all his other beliefs fail him. If these beliefs are contrary to Christian Theism—and they must presuppose either the truth or falsity of such—then all he has is another religion, religious moral code, and religious natural law. And again, it is contradictory at least to my natural law theory, and one cannot appeal just to “Natural Law” for an account of liberty or human rights.

This is not a sufficient foundation for what you and I are doing as we cooperate as secessionists.

    Chuck

  10. Jason says:

A friend and I have also come to the same conclusion (as well as tons of blogs I’ve read). Not to say we want the collapse because that means chaos (understatement) for our children for a few years, but I think your statement is unfortunately 100% correct:

“What is it going to take? Complete economic collapse. Sure…Americans should act before the collapse, but 95% of Americans will not.”

    Nice article,
    Jason

  11. angie says:

Allow me to introduce myself please.I am Angie from South Carolina and I attended the Glenn Beck Rally on 8/28.Am embarassed or ashamed of being there??Nope not a bit.Am I disappointed??Yes, slightly.I went to DC because I was also there another time before for the March against Health Reform (which was more people than I have ever seen in one place before).I am a Glenn Beck fan for a few reasons…#1 He is a good man with passion for our rights as Americans..#2 He has educated me in the sense that the school teachers here in the wonderful South DID NOT because they must go by a very sub-standard curriculum as instructed by the state .Yet,they wonder why we are 49th in education. ha #3 He’s entertaining!Any one who actually has cable and takes the time to watch his program or perhaps turn on a radio and listen to his talk show would know this to be true.He says this about himself while everyone else out there is calling him a fear monger, brain washer, overly dramatic and other assorted little names.
Also, for the record, you are not brain washed because you like watching the Glenn Beck show.It is a simple case of OPINION and CHOICES.Isn’t that why we love America and are so proud to be a part of it?? I know I am.
I do agree that while Mr Beck is quick to point out our problems in this country,he does not offer any real solutions (nor is it his job either).Did I experience the revelation he spoke so fondly of for months???NO.I did enjoy being with like minded individuals who are aware of what is going on in the U.S.A. I also find comfort in being around the people that truly would like to “restore” good ole fashioned american values and morals at whatever cost rather than trying to “change” America and what it stands for!
My final thought on this is simple….I’m so glad there are people out there that practice their freedom of speech and aren’t afraid to holler “Look the emperor has no clothes”!!!

    • dumpdc says:

Miss Angie- I don’t think anyone here spoke of “brain washing” related to Mr. Beck. And I’m glad you like watching his show. I’m also glad you admitted that he offers NO solutions, which was my entire point. But I do disagree with you..it IS his job to offer real solutions. Only an intellectual philanderer (look that up) toys with another’s emotions with a frivolous or casual attitude and never offers solutions. I submit to you that you might eschew entertainment and embrace knowledge.

      Thanks for writing.
      Russ

      • angie says:

Mr Russ (ha!) First and foremost it seems you think that because I am no intellectual web site manager and “guru” such as yourself that I can not communicate nor understand your big words. There you are sadly mistaken.A philanderer is simply this:one who hangs about women;a male flirt. No wonder you fail to see the meaning of anything Beck has to say!He happens to be a married man with good morals (in my eyes) and children which adore him. You’d have to watch and listen to know these things.
As for your denial of calling anyone “brainwashed”…keep in mind that just because you don’t out right say it doesn’t mean it was not implied in many statements such as “take off the christian goggles and see liberty on its own” or “trying to convince listeners and viewers that he is the watchman on the wall” or “consistency of smoke and not rock solid truth”.Do you actually go back and proofread your articles and comments sir?
I nor anyone I know in my area (and many others)believe it is suitable nor practical to succeed and it is definitely not a good solution and if you or anyone else truly thinks that Glenn Beck needs to be one to come up with these solutions than I think you might want to remember not to shoot the messenger. After all,you started this entire article on the principle that you didn’t want to judge Beck or the Rally yet that’s all that has been done throughout it.Thank you for your time and good day sir.Sincerely,”Miss Angie” LOL

      • dumpdc says:

Miss Angie- Using the word “Miss” is a Southern courtesy to a woman of whom her matrimonial state is unknown.

Thanks for referring to me as an intellectual and guru. However, I’m just a guy with an opinion and the time to share it.

I used the words “intellectual philanderer” as a comparative phrase, not an indictment of HIS morals. I was saying that he dallies and flirts with his audience, but doesn’t commit…in the same way a man philanders.

People can be convinced of wrong philosophical positions without being brainwashed. I used to be a Republican. I used to listen to Rush Limbaugh daily. Brainwashing implies a re-programmed mind against one’s will. Nothing like that in my article.

Your third paragraph uses the word “succeed” in error. Didn’t you mean “secede?” But you may have given away your true philosophy. You might have meant that you and your friends believe it is neither suitable or practical to succeed. If you continue holding the political beliefs you espouse, you’ll be right.

Finally, I did not start my article saying anything about judging Beck or the rally. The only use of the word “judge” in the entire article is when I wrote about JUDGE Andrew Napolitano. You’ve missed the point of the article, then. I am completely judgmental in the article, pointing out Beck’s many intellectual flaws.

Thanks again for writing, Miss Angie. I invite you to spend much time in our Archives. If you do, there is hope for you.

        Russ

  12. Y’all make me feel so self-centered! I don’t worry about “natural laws.” (One of the benefits of majoring in Philosophy is that we don’t have to if we don’t want to.) I want what I want for my own selfish reasons, and I would like for you to have the same thing IF that’s what you want, but basically I don’t want to interfere with your decisions so long as they do not harm me or get in my way. Our mutual problem is the 535 in Washington, stage/city/county governments, and their endless minions and myrmidons all wanting to restrict us “for our own good,” or for the good of others who have no call on our time or possessions.

Of course I don’t want chaos or anarchy! How very untidy and time-consuming those would be. Reasonable men do not need many laws to live in polite harmony: do not lie, cheat, steal, batter, do murder, or destroy property that is not your own…and don’t dam rivers upstream of my place…don’t scare th’ horses…and respect dogs and womenfolk. Those ought to cover the basics pretty well.

  13. Wil Martindale says:

While I don’t completely agree with everything Glenn Beck says and does, I can’t find it in my heart to criticize the man or be cynical about his show, his guests, or his intentions. I don’t think he’s an establishment shill, and in fact he points out many things which the rest of the mainstream media, INCLUDING FOX, do not.
The point Glenn is trying to make is simply that we have a MORALITY crisis in America. I agree. His path to that morality is different than mine, and it may be different than yours, but restoring honor in America IS THE POINT. Secessionists may take the position that it cannot be restored within the hopelessly captured U.S. government, due to the current administrations rigid practice of crony Socialism. I tend to agree, but see no harm in promoting good over evil, honor over deceit and principle over anarchy.
There are much more destructive forces out there promoting much more destructive ideologies than Glenn does. I think he does much more good than harm.

    • dumpdc says:

Mr. Martindale- Your reluctance to criticize Beck is not generous, just spineless. Only shills have hour-long programs on FOXNEWS. Sure, America has a morality problem, and I do not really care about Beck’s path or yours. Just who is the group that is going to define the morals we are all supposed to embrace? The argument must go beyond mere morality. Highly moral people sit in church pews every Sunday, and those same people worship the US military and “support the troops,” even when the troops are invading other nations and murdering civilians. Beck’s “Restoring Honor” slogan is just that…sloganeering. It is a slogan without meaning. First…restoring means that we once had it. Second, what is Beck’s definition of “honor?” It is honorable to protect individual liberty and property rights. The Feds have not done that for 160 years. So I reject your notion that the current administration is practicing crony socialism. ALL the administrations since Lincoln have been advancing socialism in the USA.
We here at DumpDC don’t have a national TV show, but we have the stones to discuss the problems and offer the solutions. Beck doesn’t. Perhaps if you’ll spend some time in our Archives, you’ll be convinced that secession is the ONLY remedy.

  14. Mr. Longcore – I believe that in the defense of Mr. Beck I offered a point of view, not a personal insult, such as “not generous, just spineless”. Frankly, sir, you do not know me, or my point of view, well enough to render such an accusation. For the record, I do not engage in the discussion here to trade personal insults.

I will answer your question however, since you asked, “Just who is the group that is going to define the morals we are all supposed to embrace?”

Let me preface that answer by saying that most people of good moral character, are taught and raised by people of good moral character, and through that process they develop a moral conscience.

I do not, nor did I ever say, that there is a “group” who defines morals. Rather, I say, “let your conscience be your guide”.

You also ask, what is Beck’s definition of honor? I suspect it is probably the same as mine and yours, but why would that matter? If a person knows the basic difference between right and wrong, and chooses wrong, his choice is not the moral one, and he knows that.

On the other hand, if a person does not know right from wrong, I fear no “group” can rectify that shortcoming for him.

I don’t have a national TV show either, but I also have the stones to discuss the problems, AND offer solutions at my blog:

And I don’t back down from my position one iota.
