Hooray, Lew Rockwell!!

Today, Tuesday, March 16, 2010, at LewRockwell.com, Lew ran the book “No Treason,” by Lysander Spooner in its entirely as the Number One article posting, top of the page.

Spooner was a Massachusetts lawyer who wrote this book in 1867. Spooner wrote that the US Constitution has no authority and never had any authority.

This is a major change of position at LRC. Even as late as Monday, Lew ran an article on Nullification by Michael Boldin, Director of the Tenth Amendment Center. And, nullification relies on the “authority” of the US Constitution and the powers reserved to the States and to the people.

I don’t have any inside information about what motivated Lew to post Spooner in such a prominent position, or post Spooner at all. But LewRockwell.com has been a clearing house for authors writing about Constitutional issues over the years. I’ve had articles posted there in the past that talked about Constitutional issues. But if you have been following DumpDC for any amount of time, you have likely noticed that our position here is Spooner’s position…that the US Constitution is a document of no authority that cannot bind any two persons to each other, nor bind all of America to the rogue government of robbers, thieves and murderers in Washington DC.

I don’t foresee Mr. Rockwell taking an editorial position against articles that promote enforcement of the Constitution. LRC belongs to Lew, and he can and will do anything with his website that he pleases. But there’s an old song from the WWI era entitled “How you gonna keep ‘em down on the farm after they’ve seen Paris?” Specifically, how do you continue running pro-Constitution articles after running the definitive position paper that PROVES the Constitution has no authority? Once folks read Spooner and “see Paris,” they won’t want to argue about the Constitution any more. They should be looking for other answers to the problems of the day.

Think carefully about this. If Spooner is correct, and the Constitution has no authority…then most of the things you and I THOUGHT we knew about governance are not true. Specifically, if your state is not bound to the Union by the Constitution, then no further action need be done when secession is contemplated. You don’t worry about resigning from a club of which you were never truly a member.

My perspective of this event is that this LRC posting today was a tectonic shift in position at the most popular anti-government, anti-war, pro-liberty site on the World Wide Web. My most heartfelt congratulations go to Lew Rockwell.

To learn more about the true nature and legal foundations of the United States Constitution, go to LysanderSpooner.org and read the short book (about 30 pages) entitled “No Treason.” There are many more of Spooner’s writings at this website, and all are worth reading.

Secession is the Hope For Mankind. Who will be first?

One Response to Hooray, Lew Rockwell!!

  1. This conclusion might be right (I would hope), but Americans are so used to thinking within the political box . . . but then . . . who is prepared to move toward the necessary conclusion?
